JAPANESE MANICURE FOR WEAK NAILS

Are your nails weak and flaked? Give a try to japanese manicure! What is, how to do and why (+ videotutorial)

Today I want to answer to one of the most asked question, here and on my youtube channel: how can we take care of weak and flaked nails?

Someone could say “Have you ever thought to UV gel?”, yes, sure a good way to protect nails and make them lasting more. But who got gel mani at least once knows that sometimed nails after removal process can need extra care to regain their original condition. It would be good if we were able to take care of nails with something natural that doesn’t damage them, wouldn’t it?

The “yes” reply comes from the east: I’m talking about japanese manicure, a special treatment that can protect and nourish nails naturally, making them beauty and shiny even at the very first time. Is a pretty old technique, but Japanese manicure is unknown in Italy (except for pro), maybe because lost its appeal when UV gels were put on the market. I think it’s really a shame, especially because products involved in this tecnique are made with natural ingredients (take a look to the INCI details below)

If yours nails are weak keep on reading, I want to explain because you should give a try to japanese manicure!

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Japanese manicure requires the application of 2 products: a paste before, a powder after. Both products are applied on nails through 2 special leather buffer, then the treatment is totally painless and safe, especially for who is afraid of UV exposure (no lamps are needed).

After the treatment nails are really good: thanks to the protecting film the nail plate is smooth and compact, nail is firmer and really glossy, better then a top coat! But japanese manicure benefits aren’t only cosmetic, because products contain a lot of interesting ingredients:

– A, E, H, B5 vitamins, useful to regenerate nails
– Zinc and silicon to promote growth
– Bentonite, calcium and sodium to strengthen
– Lipids, to increase elasticity and impact resistance
– Beeswax and ginseng to create a firm but breathable protective film
– Glycerine, panthenol and lanolin to nourish and moisturize

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST? HOW TO KEEP IT?

Japanese manicure is really long-lived and can be on for over a week. After 7/8 days the protective film starts dulling then, even if could long more, I prefer to buffer again and repeat the treatment regaining the shiny effect.
Of course everything depends on you and your habits, keep in mind to wear gloves if you have to use strong soaps or solvents!
Another good point of this tecnique is we don’t need to remove anything: if you don’t repeat the treatment simply the protective film will fade and go away, then you don’t need to subjecting the nails to the removal process stress.

HOW PRODUCTS WORK? WHAT ARE MADE OF?

For my japanese manicure I decided to use P-Shine products, I really think they are the best for this tecnique! I give you some details:

P-SHINE PASTE is the first products to apply, right after buffer the nails. Is solid, similar to wax, is odourless and the color is really similar to green clay. INCI is really short and contains natural ingredients, except for propylen glycol (chemical but not harmful for nails) and for the preservativethat, even if is ordinary in make-up formulas, still can cause allergies, keep in mind. Some traces of BHT are found, but is the last ingredient in the list then concentration is really low, under recommended limits (in Europe as well).

Ingredients: Diatomaceous earth, propylene glycol, glycerin, water, stearic acid, triethanolamine, potassium hydroxide, sodium dehydroacetate, BHT.

P-SHINE POWDER is the second product to apply, thanks to beeswax is really a good sealer that protects nails effectively. Powder is really fine, light pink colored, odourless as well. INCI is short and natural, except for the dyer (last position):

Ingredients: Diatomaceous earth, water, glycerin, stearic acid, paraffin, beeswax, lanolin, sodium dehydroacetate, potassium hydroxide, CI 45100
